Community support for an iconic Dubbo festival is growing as the September launch of the festival grows nearer.
The festival committee held a public meeting last week to allow community members to have their input into what the committee had achieved so far.
Festival committee member Anne Field said that while the turnout to the meeting had been lower than expected those who came were supportive of what the committee had achieved so far.
“The feedback was all very positive,” she said.
“There are many people who are keen to be part of it.”
Ms Field said the committee was able to unveil its strategic plan for the festival as well as the festival mission statement.
The Festival Ambassador program, which will see community members acting as “directors of first impressions” at the festival, was also met with a great deal of support.
“All the people, who have come to us before keen to be volunteers are very keen to be part to be part of the ambassador program,” she said.
Ms Field said the committee had put in a lot of hard work so far into planning the festival.
“We have been doing this over many weeks,” she said.
“Most of us (on the committee) are working so it has taken a couple of months and a few days of solid work to get it done.”
Although the committee is keeping tight lipped on the theme for the festival for the moment it won’t be long before it is unveiled to the Dubbo public.
“We will be having a cocktail party on the 6th of August to announce the name,” Ms Field said.
There will then be an official launch in September marking the one-year count down for the very first Dubbo festival in 2011.
